One-of-a-Kind SASQUATCH 1979 Jeep Wagoneer Build to Debut at the 2022 SEMA Show in TREMEC Display

Novi, MI – CarBuff Network and TREMEC will unveil the SASQUATCH 1979 Jeep Wagoneer at the 2022 SEMA Show on Tuesday, November 1 at 10:00am in the TREMEC outdoor display (booth #81280).

The brainchild of Trent Campbell, SASQUATCH will combine the classic lines and style of the SJ platform with modern performance, comfort and convenience. It will be used for off-roading and overlanding along the West Coast, making durability, dependability and off-road performance paramount in the build. The Jeep SJ platform was introduced in 1963 and was in production for 28 years. These models have surged in popularity over the past 10 years, making readily available parts for them highly desirable.

“Jeep Wagoneers were a big part of my memories growing up,” said Campbell. “Grandpa owned four Wagoneers, starting in the late 1960s, and I took ownership of one of them during high school. The Jeep was sold when our first daughter came along. Twenty years later, I’m very excited to have the opportunity to partner with some amazing people and brands to build a modern version of this classic.”

Campbell decided to keep the powertrain MOPAR and selected a 392 Hemi engine to transplant. The transmission will be a TREMEC TR-4050 5-speed designed specifically for off-road applications such as Jeeps, Broncos and light-duty pickup trucks.

YouTube playlist has been created where the initial 3 videos are already available, and more videos documenting the build will be posted in coming weeks.

“We are proud to be working with TREMEC and Silver Sport Transmission to showcase this transmission’s durability, ease-of installation and convenience of an Overdrive Fifth gear for the off-road community,” said Campbell.

SEMA was founded to help manufacturers sell products and that is a big part of the focus on this Jeep. There are also many new products being developed specifically for this project vehicle. For example, One Up Off Road is redesigning their Super Duty suspension to fit full-size Jeep frame using off-the-shelf bypass shocks from FOX. Rock Slide Engineering is engineering a set of rock sliders which will then be offered for sale full-size Jeeps.

The collaboration of world-class artists, designers and manufactures has been outstanding on this build. Dom Tucci Design, Jeep Graphic Studio and BJ’s Full Size Jeep Parts have been critical in design and sourcing the right products. Many new products will debut on Sasquatch including custom 3-d printed graphics and accessories from Jeep Graphic Studio.

Resurgence Automotive is bringing everything together as the primary builder and will bring their expert fabrication and bodywork and paint skills.
