A hot button topic (to say the least) these days are EVs (electric vehicles) and the various aspects of owning and driving them. For those who love having a manual transmission in their vehicle, the perception is owning an EV means losing the driving enjoyment of shifting your own gears. But the Jeep Magneto 2.0 EV Wrangler concept vehicle solidly proves that you can still enjoy the fun of a manual transmission, featuring a TREMEC Magnum 6-speed.

At the 2022 Cadillac Attack event, we spotted a relative unicorn in the CTS-V universe. In the field of competitors, there was a CTS-V wagon with the factory manual transmission! A CTS-V wagon is unusual enough to see, but one with a factory TREMEC TR-6060 6-speed is like catching sight of Big Foot riding on the Loch Ness Monster’s back. The CTS wagon was available for the 2010-14 model years, and was a bold move for Cadillac, since at a time, the concept of a station wagon was virtually extinct in the American market, unlike in Europe. This 2013 stick wagon was one of only 500 made for the model year.

Nick Filippides and his company American Racing Headers are no strangers to building vehicles that redefine what it means to think outside the box. They built a Hellcat-powered Toyota Prius with a TREMEC Magnum 6-speed transmission that stunned people at the 2017 SEMA Show. Their follow-up to that build – a 1964 Rambler American – is built to turn heads and blow the doors of the competition on the drag strip.

Ever-humble Bob Myers has been a staple on the stick-shift street-car scene. He regularly competes in events like NMRA’s QA1 True Street, local bracket racing and 6.50 index. But unlike most racers who rely on a big V8 for power, Bob has stayed true to a beloved 2.3-liter Ford four-cylinder that motivates his 1984 Mercury Capri RS.

The 2021 TREMEC Stick Shift Shootout at the NMRA Spring Break Shootout at Bradenton Motorsports Park on March 4-7, 2021, was packed with highlights and great stories. One of those stories features Jon Whitaker who had just finished his 1993 Cobra and was ready to hit the track and see what it could do. The car exceeded his expectations in its first event, averaging an 11.79 e.t. during qualifying and landing Jon a spot in the TREMEC Stick Shift Shootout.

Our latest TREMEC Customer Spotlight focuses on two friends who built FFR roadsters at about the same time.

Joe Camire worked at Factory Five for several years, and being part of the crew creating the roadster kits he eventually wanted one of his own to build.

Sharing a passion for driving with Joe is his friend Greg Sandels who purchased a FFR kit in 2004, two years before Joe bought an started his own build. Both men built their cars at home, investing sweat equity while enjoying the hands-on process of building a vehicle from scratch.
