Supplier Quality Engineer
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
- Participating in sourcing, selection and evaluation of new potential suppliers.
- Implementing and monitoring advanced quality planning process with selected suppliers for new business, be responsible for supplier APQP progress and process until final PPAP approval by engineering.
- Assuring suppliers’ understanding of product and submission requirements.
- Reviewing suppliers’ manufacturing processes and quality systems.
- Assuring the accomplishment of the product with the drawing tolerances, engineering specifications & quality requirements with selected suppliers
- Assisting in resolving supplier quality & technical issues and to provide technical support
- Defining the metrics, goals and periodic monitoring of supplier performance, improve quality performance of suppliers by conducting workshops at supplier locations, providing technical assistance in developing a quality system, or other technical support as required
- Identifying part critical characteristics from product design and/or learned lessons and deploy to the supplier the required process control.
- Coordinating quality product audits in incoming inspection to assure accomplishment to the requirements and issue a DMR to the supplier if it applies.
- Determining cause of supplier quality problems and coordinate/implement effective and timely resolutions through G8D’s problem solving
EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience in automotive Supplier Quality Engineering (min 5 years)
- Forged or machined component experience preferred.
- Driveline component experience preferred.
- Fasteners component experience preferred.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or a related field required.
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS
- 25 – 40% travel and ability to periodically work non-traditional business hours to support suppliers.
