Allied with a Very Precise TREMEC Transmission

The Detroit Free Press reviewed the revitalized SRT Viper supercar that is “allied with a very precise TREMEC six-speed transmission.”

The November 22, 201 article, “Civilized brute: Viper is back with more horsepower and comfort,” reviewed the 2013 SRT Viper with 40 more horsepower than previous models, and 40 more pound-feet of torque, now a robust 600.

“After a hiatus of two-plus years, the Viper is back, with a new marketing division (SRT, Chrysler’s Street and Racing Technology performance shop), and a 640-horsepower update of its 8.4-liter V10 engine.

This raises questions: How much power is enough? How much is too much?”

The article continues, “Throttle response: Oh yea, no shortage of that. Allied with a very precise TREMEC six-speed transmission, the Viper’s updated aluminum V10 is capable of propelling this 3,350-pound coupe to 60 m.p.h. in less than 3.5 seconds, through a quarter-mile in less than 12 seconds, and up to a top speed of 206 m.p.h.
